When state Rep. Debbie Stafford (D-Aurora), opened today's paper and read that state Rep. Larry Liston called unwed teenage parents "sluts," she didn't just get mad -- she took action.
Stafford posted a Rocky Mountain News article about Liston's comments in a State Capitol women's bathroom for House members.
"It probably wasn't the most responsible decision, but I was frustrated," Stafford said. "I'm a pro-life advocate and know of the young people that engage in sex at a young age, many times they are violated by people in a position of authority."
"If you want to shun them or put a scarlet letter A on their chest - how does that help them?" Stafford asked.
"My belief is that hope and helping them may go farther to help find the positives (in pregnancy)," she said.
The posted article was quickly taken down from the bathroom.
