Hal Bidlack, a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel of El Paso County, has announced that he will be vying for Doug Lamborn's 5th Congressional District seat.
Bidlack, 49, served 25 years in the Air Force and worked as a military advisor to the White House Security Council and State Department.
Bidlack said the three main issues he will focus on during the campaign are fiscal responsibility within the government, proper treatment of veterans and the erosion of the right to privacy under the Bill of Rights.
"I'm really disturbed with the direction we've gone the last seven years, and I think that if a person is going to complain then they ought to try to be part of the solution," said Bidlack in a statement posted on his website.
Bidlack will formally announce his intention to run on April 2nd.
