Former Denver Mayor and ex-Secretary of Energy Federico Peña has endorsed Will Shafroth in the CD-2 Democratic primary, Shafroth's campaign announced Monday.
Shafroth's campaign also released the names of 290 others who have endorsed his campaign over opponents Jared Polis and Joan Fitz-Gerald, including former House Minority Leader Ruth Wright, state Rep. Kathleen Curry (D-Gunnison), and several Boulder City Council members.
"Will Shafroth is the right person at the right time to represent Colorado's 2nd Congressional District," Peña said in a Shafroth press release. "In an era when voters are rightly craving a new direction, only Will Shafroth can deliver the fresh, honest change from the politics of usual that has poisoned the well in Washington."
Peña, the release noted, is also a national co-chair for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Shafroth himself has said he won't make an endorsement in the Democratic presidential primary between Obama and Hillary Clinton.
The campaign also announced that Wright and nature photographer John Fielder will serve as Shafroth campaign co-chairs.
Most of the 290 endorsements Shafroth announced Monday were from residents of the 2nd Congressional District. The list also included current and former officials from CD-2, Denver and CD-4.
The full list of endorsements is posted on Shafroth's Web site.

Double Doh
Actually, he served as both.
Doh
Pena was U.S. Secretary of Transportation, not Sec. of Energy.
