CD-2 Democratic candidate Joan Fitz-Gerald captured the top ballot spot on the August primary ballot Saturday, winning the CD-2 assembly vote 60 percent to 40 percent over rival Jared Polis.
Polis' showing on Saturday was a slight improvement over his showing in the CD-2 county assemblies, in which he won 37 percent of the total delegates.
Fitz-Gerald's campaign wasted no time in taking advantage of Saturday's victory, sending out a fundraising e-mail asking potential donors for $60 in recognition of her 60 percent showing.
The assembly was held at Ranum High School in Denver.
