U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn's (R-Colorado Springs) campaign announced Friday the incumbent CO-5 House member was endorsed by the National Right to Life PAC.
Lamborn, who has consistantly voted with National Right to Life on abortion issues, received the PAC's endorsement -- as well as more than $13,000 in donations -- in the 2006 general election against Democrat Jay Fawcett.
Mike Hesse, manager for CO-5 GOP candidate Bentley Rayburn, congratulated Lamborn on the endorsement but said PACs like National Right to Life usually endorse incumbents when all primary candidates share the same views.
"Ultimately, there isn’t really any difference between any of the three (CO-5 GOP) candidates (on abortion)," Hesse said. "The incumbent really has to screw up in order to lose the endorsement.
"When Bentley becomes the congressman, we’ll look forward on getting their endorsement," Hesse said.
Spokespeople for Lamborn and CO-5 GOP candidate Jeff Crank did not immediately return e-mails seeking comment Friday.
