Allard endorses Armstrong in CO-6 GOP race

It's official: U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Loveland) is backing Wil Armstrong in the 6th Congressional District Republican primary.

The endorsement, announced Monday, was not a surprise: earlier this month, Allard sent out a fundraising letter on Armstrong's behalf.

U.S. Sen. Wayne AllardU.S. Sen. Wayne Allard"In the many years that my wife Joan and I have known Wil, he has consistently demonstrated his conservative principles as a business leader, as an involved community member, and as a father," Allard said in a statement released Monday. "We need more leaders in Congress who have hired employees and grown businesses in the real world. Wil's business acumen, particularly relating to the current economic woes and financial turbulence, will make an impact in Congress."

Allard is the latest A-list Colorado Republican to back Armstrong: U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Fort Morgan) and former Colorado Gov. Bill Owens, among others, have announced their support for the Greenwood Village businessman in recent weeks.

Dustin Zvonek, manager for CO-6 GOP candidate Mike Coffman, said he wasn't surprised that Armstrong has attracted such big-name support, given that he's the son of former Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Armstrong.

"We fully expect that all of these people who've been around Colorado politics - especially Republican politics -- and have benefited from Bill Armstrong to pitch in and help out his son," Zvonek said.

Momentum

with all these endorsements in the past couple of weeks, and more to come, it appears that the armstrong campaign has gained the big momentum bounce, in the 4 man race for 6th congressional district race.

ha ha ha, you are an idiot

You always post the same comments when there is a story about Coffman or your boy Wil. Your grasshopper line is laughable and so is your grammar. Next time get some real facts before you post on a blog. If not out of respect for yourself, then at least out of respect for the candidate you are trying to support. Coffman wins this in a landslide.

Why would he accept the endorsemnt?

I thought Wil was running against career politicians? Allard, Owens, McInnis, Musgrave etc... Wil (Bill Armstrong) has racked up like 100years of carrer politicians in two weeks.

Harvey gets my nod, he is the Tancredo of 2008. Everyone has counted him out for Coffman or Armstrong but look for a huge upset here.

Old News

I heard Wil announce this at a debate months ago. After hearing him speak that night, I can confirm to you that this endorsement is about as irrelevant now as it was then.
