Congressional candidate Mike CoffmanSixth Congressional District Republican Mike Coffman will report raising more than $300,000 for the second quarter of 2008, his campaign announced Tuesday.
Coffman manager Dustin Zvonek told PolitickerCO.com that the campaign is still tabulating exact numbers for 2Q fundraising.
Federal candidates have until July 15 to submit 2Q fundraising reports to the Federal Election Commission.
But already the campaign has easily bested Coffman's 1Q haul of $244,239, the campaign said in a release sent out Tuesday afternoon. Zvonek added that "the vast majority" of contributions is for the CO-6 Republican primary.
"The fact that each quarter we have been able to surpass our fundraising total from the previous reporting period is very encouraging," Zvonek said in the release. "These strong numbers will ensure we have the resources needed to make a strong push in the final six weeks of the campaign."
Told of Coffman's announcement Tuesday, Jack Stansbery, manager for CO-6 GOP candidate Wil Armstrong responded that, "Mike's been raising money as a politician for, you know, roughly 20 years. So I'm not surprised that he's able to rely on his politcial network to raise money."
Stansbery declined to comment on Armstrong's 2Q fundraising.
The campaigns of other two CO-6 GOP candidates, state Sens. Ted Harvey (R-Highlands Ranch) and Steve Ward (R-Littleton), did not respond to e-mails sent Tuesday afternoon seeking comment.

I am an undecided voter in cd-6, so get your name right.
Dislike?
The GOP establishment doesn’t dislike Coffman. They just all owe their political careers to Bill Armstrong. Coffman isn’t running against Wil. He is running against his father’s connections. Unfortunately for Wil, he is nothing like his father. People are putting that together and that is why Wil has not gained any significant traction. As for your other comments, clearly you are drinking the bath water at the Armstrong campaign.
Give it a rest Robert; aka past history.
You are not on the payroll. You are an Armstrong volunteer.
what are they telling us?
I have to wonder why the GOP political establishment dislikes Coffman so much. With all of the elected officials backing other candidates, what caused Coffman to lose grace among these leaders? As a career politician for the past decade at least, he must have worked with these other elected officials but he didn't earn their support at all. If he's elected to Congress, how will he be accepted by his congressional colleagues? Out of the gate, it doesn't look good.
Looking back to his career as an elected official the only positive thing I can remember is the St. Vrain issue, which didn't have anything to do with his job or agenda. So i'm stuck, is he just an empty suit or a complete incompetant?
Even in yesterday's Rocky Mountain News, former Secretary of State Natalie Meyer calls out Coffman for quickly "pondering his next political office."
This begs the question since Coffman's been elected so long and is fairly well known by the voters, what are his opponents waiting for? Everyone knows he's the frontrunner. Campaigning 101 says you have to go negative on the frontrunner, so somebody has to release the hounds just to have a shot at knocking Coffman off. There seems to clearly be something to his incompetence and/or his ability to get along with others.
Time is getting short, people. Somebody at least make this race interesting because I'm getting bored.
Needed At SOS
Is this the same guy coffman who 2 years ago was elected to one of the most important office in the State of Colorado
and won by the skin of his teeth and now says the office he promise to fullfill is now only administrative? Is this the same guy who through his unwillingness to share a stage with the current Congressman Tom Tancredo, smacks of political posturing on coffman's part to run for the same office that he was not comfortable appearing with Congressman Tancredo and now wants the citizens of cd-6 to give him a pass to be elected for the same position. How can the citizens of cd-6 trust this guy. coffman should stay on as SOS and fullfill the position he was elected to do and promise to uphold, instead of giving one of the most important positions in this State to the Democrats.
Good group of candidates
I am a long serving prec. captian in Arapahoe County and must say all four of these gentlemen deserve kudo's for stepping up to run.
I think we need to refrain from the name calling between Coffman and Armstrong supporters, we have had enough of that BS over the last two cycles from Republicans.
Good job to Mike's team for strong numbers in a tough environment.
Congressman Coffman
This pretty much seals the deal. With that kind of money Coffman will be able to continue to dominate the airwaves in this race. He has run a great campaign so far and I don't see him making any catastrophic mistakes at this point in the race. My only question is why haven't I seen a commercial for Will Armstrong lately?
Political Network?
You would think Bill Armstrong who served for over 18 years and has been an icon for the Republican party for several decades would have a larger network. Guess those #'s at the Armstrong campaign weren't quite as good as they were hoping for.
Not
Coffman's ability to raise money in this race should give him a solid win, at least double digit.
My guess: Coffman 45 Armstrong 30 Harvey 18 Ward 7
Nice comment form Armstrong campaign manager
Exactly, Coffman has served this country with over 20 years of military experience. He has also served this state with quite a few, not 20, years of public service. What was Armstrong doing during that time besides playing with his dad's money and trying to run businesses his dad started. Wil should try and do something on his own for once. Perhaps a state house race where he swears not to take contributions with anyone who has ties to his father. Unlikely, yes but it would serve him better in the long run.
Close?
Only if you have been eating mushrooms and hanging out in gumby land. The battle for second, third and last place is the only suspense regarding outcomes in this race.
This one is over
I can’t believe Coffman had that strong of a quarter. I think this demonstrates that people are realizing his strength and aligning themselves with the likely winner.
close election
it will fall armstrong, coffman, harvey, ward in a close race in cd-6.
Impressive
I didn't think Mike Coffman had it in him for another quarter, clearly I was wrong.
Looks like Harvey is coming back to life, might be a race for 2nd after all.
My bet Coffman, Harvey, Armstrong Ward in that order.
