Matt Farrauto, a former executive director of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, was named the Colorado Democratic Party's new communications director on Saturday.
Farrauto succeeds Lauren Rose, who's leaving to attend grad school at the Univ. of Texas.
"Because Colorado is hosting the Democratic National Convention and has become a competitive battleground state, we are enjoying a new degree of media attention," state Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak said in a statement. "I am pleased that we could find someone like Matt Farrauto, who brings a unique set of qualifications and experience to the job of Communications Director. ...He has steady hand and a passion for Democratic politics."
Farrauto, 35, was New Mexico Democratic Party executive director from 2005 until 2007. Before that, he was spokesman for New Mexico’s Democratic Coordinated Campaign.
He's also worked for former U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley's presidential campaign in 2000, U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), and candidates in Vermont, Connecticut, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri.
