Schaffer comes out against Personhood Amendment

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer has come out against a pro-life ballot measure that would define a human embyro as a person, the Rocky Mountain News is reporting.

"I think there are other strategies and tactics that get us far closer to advancing the cause of human life," Schaffer said, according to the Rocky.

Schaffer has consistantly spoken out against abortion, though he hadn't taken a stance on the personhood amendment until now, the article stated.

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Udall, a consistant pro-choice supporter, also opposes the amendment.

The personhood amendment, created and backed by the pro-life group Colorado for Equal Rights, states that any reference to "person" or "persons" in the state constitution should "include any human being from the moment of fertilization."

response to gloria on personhood.

Women would not be subject to loss of life from tubal pregnancies, the baby can be removed. Doctors and scientists need to work to lean how to save these babies. No prolife person wants women to die in these cases. It would be a crime to intentionally kill the baby, thats the difference.
Women who have natural miscariages will not be called murderers. Accidents like miscarriages are not crimes.
The government should prosecute criminals.

Would you say that we should take responsib ility for our own lives if somone wanted to lynch blacks or kill jews?

Schaffer is smart!

Thanks for taking a brave stand against what means well but could be disasterous. Based on this amendment, women could be subject to loss of life from tubal pregnancies. What would happen to women who've had natural miscarriages? We need to think and evaluate the consequences. Should we take personal responsibility for our lives or depend on the government?
