Brophy says he's considering CO-4 run in 2010

Greg Brophy

With the 4th Congressional District now under Democratic control, state Sen. Greg Brophy (R-Wray) will be looking into a run for the seat in 2010.

"My wife and I have to talk about what we're going to do," Brophy told PolitickerCO.com on Wednesday afternoon. "And I have to visit with my friends who live in that seat who are perfectly capable of being great congressmen too and see what it is that they want to do.

"You know that anybody who's in politics always thinks about running for another seat up the latter, so of course I've thought about it," Brophy continued. "I just was hoping it was down the road another six years or something like that."

Other Republicans rumored to be interested in facing Democrat Betsy Markey in 2010 include state Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Yuma), Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, former interim state Treasurer Mark Hillman, and 2008 U.S. Senate GOP nominee Bob Schaffer.

Brophy said he was "still shocked" by Musgrave's loss to Markey on Tuesday.

"She's been a good friend for a long time, so it's just really disappointing," he said.
