Groff stays Senate president; Boyd upsets Morse for pro tem

Senate President Peter Groff (D-Denver) was named to another term by acclamation, as expected.

But a fight for Senate president pro tem is heating up, as state Sen. John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) faces a challenge from state Sen. Betty Boyd (D-Lakewood).

Rumors says state Senate women were peeved that no females would be in Senate Majority leadership next year.

Morse was nominated by current President Pro Tem Abel Tapia (D-Pueblo), who's leaving to seek a seat on the Joint Budget Committee.
