Colorado Senate Dems, GOP make press office hires

Both the Colorado Senate majority and minority press offices are getting some new faces for next session.

The Senate Democrats have hired Abigail Vacanti, an anchor producer at CNN's American Morning, as their new press secretary, according to Senate Majority spokesman Terry Whitney. Vacanti replaces Ben Marter, who's headed to Washington, D.C. to become U.S. Rep.-elect Betsy Markey's communications director.

The Senate Republican press office, meanwhile, has hired longtime conservative blogger Darren Copeland, according to Senate Minority spokesman Joe Megysey.

Copeland will share duties with Megysey, who's returning to the GOP press office after spending the past few months covering the 2008 election season for the conservative news Web site Face The State.
