CD-2 Democratic candidate Jared Polis loaned his campaign another $450,000 on Tuesday -- pushing his total contributions to his campaign past the $1 million mark.
Polis also released 1Q fundraising numbers today showing that he raised more than $550,000 in the first quarter of 2008; of that 1Q money, about $400,000 of that came from his own pocket.
In his 1Q FEC statement, Polis reported giving his campaign $397,340 since Jan. 1, a press release stated. He also received $160,910 in contributions from 474 donors for the quarter, according to the release.
Mary Anne Mandarich, manager for Polis primary opponent Joan Fitz-Gerald, said Polis' $450,000 contribution was "the story of the day."
"(Polis) has said he's willing to spend what it takes to win this election," Mandarich said, "and it looks to me that he's keeping his promise to buy this election."
Spokespeople for Polis and Will Shafroth, the third CD-2 Democratic candidate, did not return phone calls and e-mails seeking comment Tuesday afternoon.
