At Least The RNC Thought Salazar Has A Chance At VP

When the Republican National Committee went on a buying spree of Web site domain names, they didn't discount the possibility that U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) would be Hillary Clinton's running mate on the '08 Democratic ticket.

According to the New York Times, the RNC registered ClintonSalazar.com in 2007, along with other potential Western Democratic ticket-balancers such as ClintonSchweitzer.com (for Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer), ClintonKerrey.com (former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska), and even ClintonBabbit.com (an apparently misspelled reference to Bruce Babbitt, Bill Clinton's Secretary of the Interior).

However, the RNC was more reluctant to predict Obama's potential running mate -- they left ObamaSalazar.com alone. That domain name was snapped up in February 2008 by Nashville attorney Jon Rose, who gave $250 to John Edwards' 2004 Democratic presidential campaign.

Just about every other domain name related to a Salazar vice-presidential run -- e.g., salazarvp.com, salazar08.com, salazar4veep.com -- is still available.
