WESTMINSTER, Colo.-With now over 4,683 total contributors, small donors continue to be the backbone for Joan Fitz-Gerald in her campaign to protect the middle class. The campaign announced today that she has raised $422,590.67 for the second quarter.

"I am humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support for our campaign," said Senator Joan Fitz-Gerald. "The economy is tight right now, and when I get a check for $5 from a senior on a fixed income or $10 from a teacher, I know how much it means to them. They want a different America because the middle class is being squeezed between high gas prices, rising food costs and health insurance that is unaffordable. They inspire me to campaign even harder and be the very best congresswoman I can be for them. That is why I am in this campaign."

A typical Fitz-Gerald donor is Cindy Kirby of Arvada who is a letter carrier and has given Joan donations in $10 and $20 increments over months. She said, "I'm for Joan for because you know where she stands, she is tough as nails, her record is great and she doesn't dance around the issues. She has also been a warrior for working families and our issues, which is why I and everyone I know is supporting her."

Another donor is Penny Dumas who works at the Millennium Harvest House hotel. She contributed $5 in July of 07, another $5 in September, $20 in January, 2008, and another $20 in June; she also walks precincts and makes phone calls. She said, "I'm for Joan because of the way she is serious about protecting our constitutional rights. She is more passionate about the constitution and the middle class than anyone I have ever heard-and plus we read the same books."

Senator Fitz-Gerald said, "This campaign is not about me, it is about us. It is about Holman Carter who has made numerous phone calls; Melissa Roth who delivered over 150 yards signs in one day; Cindy Kirby and her friends who tirelessly walk precincts and Britta Singer, our campaign cheerleader, who brings joy and enthusiasm to all of our events. We are truly powered by people."
