Party Leaders Missing In Ballot Fight
By Wally EdgeAs the County Clerks continue to revolt against Secretary of State Mike Coffman’s effort to decertify voting machines, it’s kind of weird that party leaders from both sides of the aisle are staying out of the fight thus far.
Besides Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon’s comment today about having a “mostly paper ballot,” it’s been very quiet.
Sources in the GOP are telling us that House Minority Leader Mike May views the whole dust-up as “no big deal.” But others inside the GOP are worried that this is an attempt by the Democrats to boost turnout through the use of mail-in ballots.
“It’d be bad for us,” said one Republican Senator. “Imagine all the fraud that could happen with mail-in ballots.”
We think most leaders in both parties are hoping for a resolution to the standoff between the Secretary of State and the County Clerks, because they want to avoid the fight on this one.
After all there are so many other good things to fight about.
