Powerful or pitiful?

Doug Bruce, Republican anti-government, anti-tax, anti-good manners champion from El Paso County will delay his term in the House by a few days by simply not showing up for work. Bruce will thus avoid serving more than half the term of his outgoing predecessor in the House, Bill Cadman.

By doing so, it will allow Bruce to avoid the consequent term limits which will give him an additional two years in the State House. The result has been a howling dervish of criticism coming from Democrats (see House Speaker Romanoff) and the media (see Denver Post editorial) accusing Bruce of “gaming”’ the system to his own benefit.

Ok, but, politicians are always “gaming” the system. When your party does it, it’s considered noble, when the other party does it, it’s considered hypocritical.

Our verdict: Pitiful
