Gov. Bill Ritter today signed Senate Bill 163 into law, establishing a 24-member Colorado Autism Commission that will examine gaps in services and devise a 10-year state strategy by Oct. 1, 2009.

 

SB 163 was sponsored by Sen. Brandon Shaffer and Rep. Dianne Primavera at the urging of the Autism Society of Colorado.

GOVERNOR RITTER TO HOST EDUCATION FORUM IN COLORADO SPRINGS ON THURSDAY

Sen. Salazar Statement on Pope Benedict XVI Trip to United States

GOV. RITTER STATEMENT ON CAMPAIGN FINANCES

Gov. Bill Ritter today said his campaign committee has taken out a $200,000 loan to repay campaign expenses that were incorrectly paid out of his inaugural committee's account.

 

The incorrect payments were discovered in February 2008 as the inaugural committee's accountant began trying to prepare a federal Form 990. A comprehensive financial review was then conducted at Gov. Ritter's request in March and April 2008 by the outside accounting firm Patten, MacPhee and Associates.

Washington, D.C. - Today, in a continued effort to ensure that Colorado’s West Slope communities get their fair share from oil and gas development leasing revenues, United States Senators Ken Salazar and Wayne Allard and Congressman John Salazar introduced a bill that would amend the Transfer Act ensuring that the Anvil Points clean-up fund would be split 50-50 between the federal government and four of Colorado’s northwest counties.

GOV. RITTER DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY IN CROWLEY COUNTY

Gov. Bill Ritter tonight declared the fire burning in Crowley County a state emergency and made $500,000 available from the State Disaster Emergency Fund.

 

The funds will be used to help defray firefighting and recovery costs in and around Ordway.

 

Gov. Ritter also has directed the Colorado Division of Emergency Management to seek any available federal assistance, including Small Business Administration loans, to help those who sustain damage from the fire.

GOV. RITTER ANNOUNCES 22 RESIDENTIAL SOLAR PROGRAM PARTNERS

Bill Ritter today announced that 22 Solar Residential Program partners have been selected to promote the installation of residential solar electric and solar domestic hot water systems statewide. The Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) has committed $550,000 of Clean Energy Funds and created a total program budget of $1 million to advance solar investment in the state.

ALLARD COMMENDS PROGRESS ON FILLING JUDICIAL VACANCIES

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) said today that substantial progress has been made in filling the three current vacancies on Colorado’s Federal District Court. Allard was informed this morning by fellow Colorado Senator Ken Salazar that he will be forwarding a letter today to the White House recommending three names to fill the vacancies. The letter includes two names recommended previously by Allard to the White House, in addition to a new name.
