U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) thinks millionaire GOP activist Bruce Benson might be a good choice as CU president, the Rocky Mountain News is reporting.
Salazar said Benson's educational contributions and community leadership "needs to be recognized," the Rocky reported.
"I don't know the other applicants or the process. I can't say whether he's the very best president for CU," Salazar said. But he said Benson is right to see funding as a critical issue for CU.
"Colorado ranks 49th in the country in funding higher education, and it's going to be really difficult to come up with the revenue sources to get Colorado on the right track," Salazar said in the article.
