    As we do at the first of every month, today we update our Top Ten Power Positions in Colorado politics. Tom Wiens dropped off our board because he announced he won't be running for re-election. And the brother of another Top Ten politicker made our list for the first time.

    Bruce accused of sexual harassment

    State Rep. Douglas Bruce has been ordered to stay away from a female Capitol staffer who lodged a sexual harassment complaint against the Colorado Springs Republican.

    The staffer filed the complaint because of an alleged comment and contact Bruce made, the Denver Post reported.

    House Speaker Andrew Romanoff (D-Denver) handed Bruce a letter on the House floor Thursday; Bruce was visibly upset by the letter, the Post reported.

    May, Groff Disappointed Court Didn't Rule On A41; Romanoff Says Court Had No Choice

    House Minority Leader Mike May (R-Parker) said Monday that the state Supreme Court "punted" on Monday's Amendment 41 ruling, adding that sending the case back to a lower court will only continue state employees' confusion about state gift laws.

    House Majority Leader Andrew Romanoff (D-Denver), though, said the ruling would help preserve clean government and said the Supreme Court wasn't able to rule on the case today.

    UPDATED: Garcia Resigns Amid Accusations He Exposed Himself To Lobbyist

    Assistant House Majority Leader Michael Garcia (D-Aurora) resigned Friday following allegations that he exposed himself and made inappropriate advances towards several female lobbyists.

    An unnamed female lobbyist alleged that Garcia approached her as they were playing pool at Lancer Lounge on Jan. 7 after a Garcia fundraiser, according to FaceTheState.com, which first released the story.

    DLC Names Romanoff "New Democrat Of The Week"

    The centrist Democratic Leadership Council named Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff their "New Democrat of the Week" on Tuesday.

    The DLC cited Romanoff's "detailed, progressive agenda" that he has laid out for the 2008 legislative session on issues such as childhood education, health care, and renewable energy.

    Coloradoans who have been named "New Democrat of the Week" in the past include U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Gov. Bill Ritter (D) and state Rep. Terrance Carroll (D-Denver).
