Kerr elected assistant House majority leader

DENVER-- House Majority Whip Andy Kerr (D-Lakewood) defeated State Rep. Nancy Todd (D-Aurora) to become assistant House majority leader early Thursday afternoon.

Kerr succeeds Assistant Majority Leader Terrance Carroll (D-Denver), who earlier on Thursday was elected Speaker of the House by the House Democratic Caucus.

Buescher's loss opens up House Speaker, Majority Leader races

Speaker of the House and House majority leader positions are up for grabs at Tuesday's Democratic state House caucus, and several candidates are jockeying for position.

State Rep. Bernie Buescher (D-Grand Junction) had been the heir apparent to become Speaker of the House next year, but Buescher's surprise loss to Republican Laura Bradford has opened up a power vacuum for the position.

Assistant Majority Leader Terrance Carroll (D-Denver), state Rep. Anne MiGihon (D-Denver), and Kathleen Curry (D-Gunnison) are in the running for House Speaker, a Democratic House source said.

Democrats Ask CU Regents To Turn Over Info On Benson Selection Process

Senate Majority Leader Alice Madden (D-Boulder), Senate President Peter Groff (D-Denver) and 10 other Democratic legislators sent a letter to the CU Board of Regents today asking them to turn over information regarding "the particular circumstances surrounding" the selection of CU presidential finalist and longtime GOP activist Bruce Benson.
