    Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, Ron Paul fall flat

    In today's Inside Edge, Wally explores the connection bewteen the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and state Rep Dave Schultheis' humiliating defeat in the RNC race on Saturday at the GOP state assembly.    "I don't know if Schultheis actively courted the Ron Paul vote," said another El Paso County delegate, "but it's clear that the Ron Paul support hurt him."

    Hillman wins Republican National Committeeman slot; Schultheis finishes third

    Former acting state treasurer Mark Hillman won today's state convention vote for Republican National Committeeman with 55 percent of the vote.

    GOP activist Leondray Gholston finished second with 26 percent of the vote, party officials said; state Sen. Dave Schultheis finished a surprising third with 19 percent of the vote.

    “Yeah, Hillman took his 30 pieces of silver,” said one GOP official. “But the difference between he and Judas is that at least Judas had the good sense to hang himself. Hillman acts like he deserves a promotion.”

    Hillman Makes RNC Committeeman Bid Official

    Confirming what has been an open secret, former state Senate Minority Leader and acting Treasurer Mark Hillman announced Thursday that he's running for RNC committeeman.

    "I thoroughly enjoy working with Republican activists across the state," Hillman told PolitickerCO Thursday, "And I think this is a good opportunity to continue to build on those relationships while promoting the conservative message that I believe what distances us from Democrats."

    State Sen. Dave Schultheis (R-Colorado Springs), who's also running for the seat, said he and Hillman met a couple weeks ago and agreed to run a friendly -- but spirited -- campaign.

    "We made a personal  pact we're not going to do anything to make the other look bad here," Schultheis said. "We're just going to run on our own merits and let the voters decide.

    Lamborn Highlights Experience, Conservative Ideals In Re-Election Kickoff

    COLORADO SPRINGSU.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) formally launched his CD-5 re-election campaign Monday evening, telling a crowd of about 200 supporters that he has the experience and conservative credentials his opponents lack.
