Doug Bruce has been vilified this term by both Democrats and Republicans. And with a new compromise measure that threatens to scrap much of TABOR in return for concessions on Amendment 23, some insiders are guessing much of the hostilty towards Bruce from the right side of the aisle was aimed at helping passage of the measure. Either way TABOR supporters are promising a fight to retain the TABOR spending restrictions.
The Inside Edge acknowledges that of all the western turtles, the western painted turtle is probably most in sympathy with the dreams and aspirations of Coloradoans in general. Embattled and often-criticized El Paso County legislator Doug Bruce has circulated a blanket dinning invitation to his fellow legislators. Our guess is that it's in an effort to stave off getting kicked out of the legislature.

Doug Bruce, Republican anti-government, anti-tax, anti-good manners champion from El Paso County will delay his term in the House by a few days by simply not showing up for work. Bruce will thus avoid serving more than half the term of his outgoing predecessor in the House, Bill Cadman.
