U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) didn't win Colorado's Republican primary, but that doesn't preclude him from carrying the state in the general election.
It's happened before, most recently in 1992. Though Bill Clinton lost the state's Democratic primary to Jerry Brown, he went on to win the state in the general election against George H. W. Bush.
While still considered safe for the Democrats by Rassmussen, Obama only holds a 7 percentage point lead over McCain in Massachusetts. The last Democrat to win Massachusetts’ 12 electoral votes by approximately 7 percentage points? You guessed it: Mike Dukakis.
"My quotes were misreported. I said, in effect, that if I were in Mr. Rangel’s shoes I might step aside. But it’s up to Mr. Rangel. He’s an American hero, he’s an enormous asset to the Congress."
