The other shoe drops on Bruce, TABOR

Doug Bruce has been vilified this term by both Democrats and Republicans. And with a new compromise measure that threatens to scrap much of TABOR in return for concessions on Amendment 23, some insiders are guessing much of the hostilty towards Bruce from the right side of the aisle was aimed at helping passage of the measure. Top 10 Republican mediocrities in the Colorado legislature

In the last 18 months, this self-described American “hero” has gone from state representative to state senator to congressional candidate. As the Sanjaya of the GOP lineup, however, his theatrics (or his hair) won’t be able to carry him where substance is required.

House Republicans Redefine "Political Football"

In a legislative session that has seen its share of humor (sometimes intentional), the House Republican staff  handed out a 2 1/2-page, double-sided sports glossary on Wednesday to reporters.

The entries range from the clever ("dead ball" is defined as "The period of time between 'conversations' about a policy direction when the conversation appears to be 'dormant'")  to the obvious (the Douglas Bruce reference in the "kick" entry).

Asked for a response, House Democratic spokesperson Katie Reinisch said, "We're too busy working on the people's business to go out and get them cheese and crackers to go with their whine."

May, Groff Disappointed Court Didn't Rule On A41; Romanoff Says Court Had No Choice

House Minority Leader Mike May (R-Parker) said Monday that the state Supreme Court "punted" on Monday's Amendment 41 ruling, adding that sending the case back to a lower court will only continue state employees' confusion about state gift laws.

House Majority Leader Andrew Romanoff (D-Denver), though, said the ruling would help preserve clean government and said the Supreme Court wasn't able to rule on the case today.

DougCo Disaster

Being in the GOP in Douglas County has always been like being at war.
