"The reason the HBA sided with Rayburn is because that is where the facts are. The fact is that the terms of the contract were not followed and so the agreement was terminated. It's simple really."

-Posted by Integrity First in response to our story "HBA repudiates poll results, agreement in CO-5."

Dear Integrity,

We have to agree.

At first we thought it was just two sides with a different interpretation of events. But the independent 3rd party that was brought in to be referee essentially sided with Rayburn on this one.

We said it last week and we'll say it again. If Crank is up 17 points on Rayburn, his campaign shouldn't be worried about the agreement. The fact that they've spent more time slamming Rayburn than trying to beat Lamborn tells us something.

We'll leave you to figure out what it tells us.

"When will politicians support the best candidate in a race rather than returning favors? This is politics at its worst. Armstrong is a terrible candidate who would not get these endorsements if it weren't for his [papa]."

- Posted by Billium in response to our story "McInnis endorses Armstrong"

Dear Billium,

Well you might as well ask that the earth to stop turning on its axis. Imagine a politician returning a favor to someone who has raised a lot of money and made a lot of endorsements for them.

This is a site geared to people who live politics, not a site for average voters. Uncork that whine somewhere else.

"The Terrance Group may be well respected group in obtaining polling data in the past, but as we all know this election year is different from any other election year, so you can throw the poll data out the window."

-posted by Not Fooled in response to our story "Internal poll shows Coffman leading by 28 points in primary"

Dear Not Fooled,

If you could throw polling data out the window, would anyone do polls?

You might be on to something, but not in the way you think.

Armstrong has the right message, has the money, but he's relying on others (career politicians, at that) to close the deal with the voters.

That might have worked in any other year, but it allows Coffman to run as an outsider.

That's not a bad place to be this year.

"So you're saying Obama wants to fire Pat Waak? Hard to believe"

-By Petey in response to our story "Waak to whacked?"

Dear Petey,

Not really.

The Dems are still the house the Clintons built.

If you can explain to us why else Obama's camp would not "coordinate" with the Colorado Dems, please do.

Even conceding "real" journalist Marc Ambinder's breathless description of Obama's campaign as the most prepared, best funded, most dreamy campaign with eyes that that you could lose yourself in, cross our heart and hope to die in Obama's arms, we still haven't heard a compelling explanation why they'd not coordinate with a state party unless they felt like they couldn't trust the people at the top.

We'll see you on Monday. Have a great weekend and listen to your forefathers.

When the truth is not enough

When the truth is not enough for you, then what is there left for me to say. The facts are on the table, do with them what you will.

...My sins are few, political observer, but I will say a few Hail Marys for you.

You sound like a cry baby to me... it's ridiculous to ask "Wally" who is an alias for someone or anyone at this web site to please, please, please uphold your whining opinion to exonerate your candidate Bentley Rayburn from signing a stupid deal and then, dishonering it. Grow up! If you, as I a suspect, are a member of Rayburn's staff and think you can assuage the public this crying, moaning, me is innocent wail... think twice. You've used your ties at HBA to denounce the polls and Jeff Crank - but you know, most of us aren't buy that BS. This is gonna pass by... and Lamborn will probably win.. and voters will remember who was the spoiler. So talk to your priest about your sins...and say a few Hail Marys!
