As we wait for the fundraising quarter to come to end, we suddenly remembered state senator Steve Ward, who is running to replace US Rep Tom Tancredo.
We had to stop and remember him because he's been kind of invisible since the CO-6 debate. And of course we watched the debate on Sunday on PBS. That's what jogged our memory.
You can see the complete debate online right here.
Ward's performance on TV was surprisingly flat compared with how we thought he did in person that night. Armstrong's performance was better on TV than we thought he was in person. Coffman seemed to struggle a bit. And Harvey was "Nancy Pelosi's worst nightmare," (ha ha ha). We expect the opinion on Harvey is shared by several others who watched the debate as well.
It will be of interest to see if Ward hangs it up after the quarterly numbers come in. Frankly we expect that he'll be out classed by everyone in fundraising, including Ted Harvey, who we expect to have a respectable but not spectacular quarter.
Although we don't expect that Ward will quit, if he doesn't have the money and is polling less than 10% of the vote at this point, we'd highly suggest he drop out.
Polling less than double digits in a four man race has a way of hurting career aspirations.
