Polis high in CO-2?

Lost in the push poll controversy between CO-2 candidates Democrats Joan Fitz-Gerald and Jared Polis has been an analysis of why someone would do a push poll at this stage in the campaign.

If you've been in a coma or otherwise don't follow our favorite liberal site ColoradoPols, you can read about the push poll pickle right here.

The answer to why a push poll and why now, lies in one of the reasons why we really like July during an election cycle.

In July, the rhetoric gets exposed in campaigns and all that's left are results.

So, like as not, the push poll tactic is a reflection of a tighter race than the Fitz-Gerald campaign would like. Otherwise, why would Joan's supporters risk the negative consequences associated with push polling?

Push polling is always a risk and generally a pretty desperate risk at that for someone who should be leading in the polls.

"Based on our internal polling," says the "leaked" Polis campiagn memo posted on ColoradoPols "all of your hard work is paying off - voters are responding to Jared's message of positive change and rejecting the Fitz-Gerald attacks."

So we dropped an email several hours ago (9:07 AM) asking the Polis campaign to tell us what those "internal" numbers look like.

So far they haven't responded to us. But since we've gone out of our way to favorably mention Polis once or twice (ha ha) we expect they'll be getting back to us any time now.

We're sure they won't take personally the 7 or 8 other articles where Wally just happened to mention Jared in a way some would construe as not so favorable.

Because they know we were just kidding.

Ha, ha, ha.

Ha.
