A TIME/CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released today suggests that independent candidates could swing the election in Colorado.
Asked to choose between the two leading presidential candidates, registered voters chose U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) over U.S. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) by 47 percent to 46 percent.
When third-party candidates were included, McCain maintained a one point lead of 43 percent to 42 percent, while 12 percent of voters chose another candidate, including 7 percent who chose independent candidate Ralph Nader.
Though the end result is unchanged, the level of support drawn by third-party candidates suggest they could easily be a deciding factor in a close race.
An additional 3 percent would vote for Libertarian candidate Bob Barr while 2 percent perferred Green party candidate Cynthia McKinney.
