Winners and Losers

With a “do nothing” Colorado legislature adjourning for the regular 2008 session, there are some clear winners, and maybe some winners that aren’t so clear. Meanwhile, a few congressional candidates continue their bumbling, stumbling ways and means, and a Colorado Senate candidate show he might not be ready for the rough and tumble of politics, politicker style.

Winners

Losers

Gregg Palmer

Palmer was selected as mayor of Grand Junction on a 6-0 vote Monday night. We can’t wait to write about him!

Mark Scheffel

Despite concerns about the impropriety of Scheffel taking more than $200,000 in legal fees from Elbert County, Scheffel and Elbert County remain silent on the issue. Soon, people are going to think there really was something improper going on.

Colorado Legislators

They got paid the same amount for doing almost nothing this session. We’re not sure if that makes Colorado residents winners or losers.

Jared Polis

No one shows up for an anti-war event the Polis campaign invites us to; and we report that fact. So out of pique, the campaign cancels its Monday Morning feature interview with PolitickerCO.com. It’s time for Polis to wear some big-boy pants.

Jeff Crank

Cranks picks up Coors endorsement. While some think it may only help marginally, it could signal a significant financial separation for Crank in a field where $100,000 could make a big difference.

Doug Lamborn

Doug blames the El Paso County GOP in explaining why a sitting congressman must petition on to the ballot. The county party is having none of it, calling Lamborn’s argument "patently incorrect." Translation: "Lamborn’s a big, fat liar."
