In this week's edition of Winners and Losers, we take a look at a candidate not competing at the 6th CD assembly, the two U.S. Senate candidates making molehills out of mountains (or something like that), a Colonel of Marines who spent more time whining than winning votes and we let Kristi Burton take a bow. She's earned it.

Winners

Losers

Mike Coffman

Coffman manages to generate some positive news in the run up to the 6th congressional assembly by getting the endorsement of five former state GOP chairs. Sure Coffman’s not a candidate at the assembly, but that doesn’t mean he’s not represented on the ballot. Coffman supporters, it’s been whispered, will mark their ballots “I abstain.”

Bob Schaffer

Perhaps everyone is making a mountain out of an Alaskan molehill regarding the mountain mix up for the Schaffer ad. But someday soon, Bob’s going to have to get his name out there in a positive way.

Mark Udall

Udall has to be loving the Schaffer campaign right now because Udall doesn’t have to do anything. Eventually however Udall will have to convince voters had shares Colorado’s values.

Jeff Crank

Crank follows up a good week last week with a bonehead move. Releasing a poll that was little better than a GOTV survey was dumb. Insisting it had “virtually zero” margin of error was worse.

Personhood amendment

Kristi Burton can take a bow for getting the measure on the ballot, even if the company she kept to do it smells like a rotten fish head. Getting it passed with support of that crowd will be quite another thing.

Steve Ward

We didn’t know that they allowed crying in the United States Marines. Colonel Ward spent his week whining to whoever would listen that Coffman was instructing his delegates at the 6th CD assembly to mark their ballots “I abstain” thereby taking votes from Ward. Maybe Ward should have spent his time, um, finding delegates to vote for him?

Barak Obama

Obama pick up the support of former Colorado Gov. and DNC Chair Roy Romer. That’s not just local news, that’s national.

I support Armstrong

As a veteran, Wil has stated his position of a strong military presense in the war against global terrorrist. I think all 4 candidates are strong in how to fight the war and win it. I just think at this present time, the economy needs to be address. AS a veteran I beleive that the issues of earmarks, high gas prices, health care are issues of concern. I think a fresh approach is needed to fix the environment in DC. I like Coffman I just think the SOS needs to stay in the position he promoised that he would be committed to just 2 years ago when he was running for the SOS office.
