In this week's Winners & Losers, Jesse Jackson shares with us his recipe for Rocky Mountain oysters; and Wally guesses the condition by which US Rep Doug Lamborn might agree to debate his opponents. So check in with Wally Edge for Weekly Winners & Losers. And remember: things always go better with a Coke and a smile.

Hal BidlackBidlack raises an impressive amount of money in his bid to be the next US Rep for CO-5. But honestly, as Democrat, he doesn’t stand a chance in that district. So enjoy the delusion while you can Hal. |
Doug LambornYou have to give him credit, US Rep Doug Lamborn is the hardest working politician in Colorado at making this list. He sat at home (or somewhere else) while his opponents debated. Listen, if you can’t play man-to-man defense Doug, you should quit right now. You are going lose either this cycle or the next. |
Rayburn and CrankThe CO-5 Republicans do what candidates are supposed to do. They debate the issues of the day. It’s just too bad that their opponent, the incumbent US Rep, wouldn’t join them. We heard US Rep Doug Lamborn only agreed to debate via voicemail. |
Joan Fitz-GeraldBeing the frontrunner has some drawbacks in a tight race. But one thing you can’t fault Fitz-Gerald on is being complacent. The push polls conducted against Polis makes her a loser this week, but it could also help her secure victory on August 12th. |
Jared PolisPolis again does very little and comes out on top by letting the other guy (or in this case gal) make the mistake. Maybe he’s got a shot. Maybe he can be the Democrat's Doug Lamborn. Ah. Too much to hope for. |
Barack ObamaOne of our favorite cartoons is this week’s treatment by our own Rob Tornoe of Obama being told by a doctor that he has no spine. His about face on free trade, FISA and other issues seems a lot more “old” politics than it does “new.” And that’s really audacious, we hope. |
TV stationsWhile the economy contracts for the rest of us whiners out here, TV and radio go gangbusters with big ad buys from political campaigns. Maybe we should institute an excessive profits tax on the media as well. They’re making money off of our misery. Oops. So are we here at Politicker. |
Freedom of FoodThe DNC says no to fried foods at the convention. How else are you going to eat Rocky Mountain oysters? Boil them? Then again, after the Jesse Jackson “hot mic” incident, maybe the DNC will ban Rocky Mountain oysters all together. |
John McCainSaw the film at 11. Say what you will, but McCain’s town hall was impressive. Half the questions were hostile and McCain didn’t blink. If there’s a “new” politics being practiced in this country, McCain, not Obama, owns the rights to it. |

Though Democrats are looking forward to taking over a Republican-held statewide post, Gov. Bill Ritter (D) may find himself in an awkward position ... >
Janet Napolitano, the Democratic governor of Arizona and an early supporter of Barack Obama's presidential campaign, is being mentioned for ... >
connect the dolts
You Lambore supporters aren't that bright. So I'll use short word even you can understand.
Lambore said he isn't going to debate any of his opponents under any circumstances. They picked that time because it worked for the two candidates that agreed to debate.
Anyway, Lambore's hiding no matter where it is. It sad to say that a sitting congressman is so scared of being found a fraud that he won't debate his opponents.
He'll eventuallly lose the seat because he's just not smart enough to be a congressman.
wow
"He sat at home (or somewhere else) while his opponents debated."
&
"Doug, you should quit right now. You are going lose either this cycle or the next."
I think those two zingers might have lost you guys alot of credibility with your readers who have an ounce of political IQ.
Let's start with the first one.
"He sat at home (or somewhere else) while his opponents debated."
You can make the argument that Doug could have scheduled the debate for another day, but you can not make the argument that he was at home during the debate. The debate was wednesday. Congress is in session Monday night through thursday afternoon. Congress is in Washington DC. Doug is a Congressman. You guys connect the dots, don't strain yourselves though.
The next one.
"Doug, you should quit right now. You are going lose either this cycle or the next."
Seriously? Do you really think he is going to lose? Or do you think that the vote will be a referendum on Doug with Crank and Ray splitting the anti-Lamborn vote and Doug winning by 12% or more?
You guys might not like Doug, that's fine. But please try to be objective when evaluating these things or you will lose readers very quickly.
